MODEX

MODEX is a supply chain and manufacturing trade show held every two years at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. It is run by MHI, the material handling, logistics and supply chain association, which also runs ProMat in Chicago in the alternate years. The next edition, MODEX 2028, runs from Monday 3 to Wednesday 5 April 2028. MHI describes it as the world’s largest supply chain event. If you buy or specify warehouse, distribution or factory equipment, you can see it working on the show floor.

MODEX 2028 dates and opening hours

The show floor is open from 9am to 5pm on each of the three days, Monday 3, Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 April 2028. MHI runs complimentary shuttle buses between the official show hotels and the Georgia World Congress Center on all three days. The 2028 edition is a day shorter than MODEX 2026, which ran from Monday 13 to Thursday 16 April 2026 and closed at 1pm on the Thursday.

Who can attend and what it costs

• Admission is free. Registration covers the exhibits, all keynotes and the show floor education sessions.
• Age limit means children under 16 cannot attend.
• International visitors can tick a box during registration to receive a visa invitation letter by email.
• Meeting rooms need a separate registration with the organiser.

MODEX 2026 in numbers

MHI reported that MODEX 2026 was the largest edition so far. It welcomed 50,000 registered visitors from every US state and 132 countries, and 1,057 exhibitors covering 630,000 net square feet. The programme included 189 education sessions and four keynotes. MHI says its visitors came from the Fortune 1000, the top 100 retailers and the top 100 consumer goods companies, and that 75% of the National Retail Federation Top 100 Retailers and 68% of the Top 100 Consumer Goods Companies send buying teams.

The 2026 post-show survey, run for MHI by Freeman, found that 80% of visitors have buying power, 34% plan to spend $1 million or more over the next 18 months on the types of products shown, 48% are senior or corporate management and 50% do not attend any other industry trade show.

What is on show

Exhibits cover the whole material handling and logistics field, from manual equipment to automated systems, robotics, AI-connected supply chain orchestration and last-mile logistics. Before the 2026 show, the top product interests among registered visitors were:

• autonomous mobile robots and automatic guided vehicle systems
• automated storage and retrieval systems, conveyors and sortation
• artificial intelligence, machine learning and advanced analytics
• distribution and warehousing software and supply chain execution systems
• forklift trucks and autonomous fork trucks, racks, pallets and palletisers
• order fulfilment, order picking and e-commerce automation

For 2028, MHI expects 1,100 exhibitors, 200 free education sessions and three keynotes. Seminars on the floor are first come, first served, so you should arrive early for the sessions you want.

Exhibiting at MODEX 2028

Stand space is allocated through a Space Draw held from 8 to 11 December 2026. To take part, your signed electronic lease and a 10% deposit must reach MHI by 5pm Eastern Time on Friday 20 November 2026. MHI says about 80% of the space is taken at the draw, and the order of selection follows its loyalty points scheme. Only companies in the MODEX 2028 Space Draw can join the draw for MODEX West, a new MHI show at the Las Vegas Convention Center from 18 to 20 October 2028.
