If your exhibits are heavy or tall, Koelnmesse gives you Halls 6, 7, 8 and 9, with floors rated at 50 kN per square metre and clear heights of 11 to 15 metres, Hall 8 being the tallest at 15 metres. The Koelnmesse exhibition centre sits at Messeplatz 1 in Cologne-Deutz, across the Rhine from the old town, and is run by Koelnmesse GmbH, which also organises most of the trade fairs held here. The operator gives the grounds around 290,000 square metres of space in 11 connected exhibition halls, plus the Confex conference and exhibition centre, two congress centres and an outdoor area of 100,000 square metres. It describes the site as the city-centre trade fair in the heart of Europe, within one hour’s flying time of 180 million Europeans.

You can check a hall’s size, height and floor load before you plan a stand, because Koelnmesse publishes all three for every hall. The largest single levels are Halls 10.1 and 10.2, at 22,332 and 22,415 square metres, with 5.70 metres of headroom and a 20 kN load. Hall 6 offers 20,846 square metres at ground level with 11 metres of height. Halls 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 and 11 are split over two or three levels, so upper-floor stands there have lower ceilings, from 4.75 metres in Hall 3.1 to 6.45 metres in Hall 3.2. Hall 11.3 carries the lowest rated load, 7.5 kN per square metre, which matters if you plan machinery or water features. Hall 1 has 10,512 square metres with 11.10 metres of height, and the Confex hall floor has 5,103 square metres with 12.20 metres.
Confex and the congress centres
If your show needs a conference beside the exhibition, Confex lets you run both under one roof. It opened in June 2024 and has two conference levels with 22 rooms of 27 to 205 square metres, plus the Confexhall of 4,812 square metres for up to 4,300 people. The Confexhall divides into three sections for 548, 840 and 3,020 people, and a covered pedestrian bridge links Confex to Hall 1 and Hall 2.2. Outside, the Confex Plaza adds 5,100 square metres for receptions and open-air side events.
The older Congress-Centrum Koelnmesse has more than 40 rooms with around 19,500 seats across Congress-Centrum Nord, Congress-Centrum Ost and the Rooms West, and its largest room holds up to 1,489 people. Congress Centre East opened in 1977 and Congress Centre North was built in 16 months during the redevelopment of the grounds around 2000. A covered Trade Fair Boulevard connects them with the halls. Bookings for these spaces go through Koelncongress, part of the Koelnmesse group.
Trade fairs you can visit here
The grounds host some of the largest fairs in their sectors. In this directory you will find imm cologne for interiors on 19–22 January 2027, Anuga FoodTec for food and drink processing on 23–26 February 2027 and the furniture supply fair interzum on 11–14 May 2027. Anuga, the food and drink fair, follows on 9–13 October 2027, and FSB for sports and leisure facilities runs alongside aquanale for pools and saunas on 26–29 October 2027, so one trip covers both. Getting to Koelnmesse
- By train Köln Messe/Deutz station, served by high-speed trains, is right next to the grounds.
- S-Bahn and underground S6, S11, S12 and S19 stop at Köln Messe/Deutz, and underground lines 1 and 9 at Köln Messe/Deutz (underground) station, both for the South entrance. Tram lines 3 and 4 stop at Köln Messe/Deutz for the East, West and North entrances.
- Ticket included for most fairs your admission ticket comes with a public transport ticket for the Rhine-Sieg (VRS) network, sent as a separate PDF, valid in second class but not on IC, EC or ICE trains.

- By air Cologne Bonn Airport serves the city.
- Deliveries trucks need a booked eSlot time slot to enter during build-up and dismantling.
