The best UK exhibition stand builders for international shows are Equinox Group, Nimlok and Focal Exhibitions. All three design and build custom exhibition stands in their own UK workshops and can show a large body of work outside the UK: Equinox says 285 of its 730 projects were delivered beyond the UK, Nimlok has its own installation teams in Europe and facilities in the USA and Canada, and Focal completes more than 60% of its projects abroad each year. For a stand programme across Europe, Skyline Whitespace and MEMS International are strong specialists, and for North America look at Marsden Exhibitions and Symbiosis.
This guide is for two kinds of exhibitor: UK businesses taking an exhibition stand to a trade fair abroad, and overseas companies that want one UK contractor for shows in the UK and elsewhere. The success of a show abroad depends as much on freight, local crews and venue rules as on the stand design itself, so we looked hardest at how each builder handles that. If you only exhibit at UK shows, our page on stand builders in the UK lists every UK stand builder in the directory.

The best UK stand builder for each kind of exhibitor going abroad
- Big, technical stands and pavilions abroad: Equinox Group, which built a 960 m² stand for Digitain at ICE Barcelona 2026.
- A bespoke look in Europe or the USA without buying the whole stand: Nimlok, whose Bespoke Hire stands are installed by its own teams in Barcelona, Venice, Cologne and Malta, and in North America by Sho-Link.
- A yearly calendar of large stands in several countries: Focal Exhibitions, which has run Colgate’s UK and European show calendar for more than 25 years.
- A modular stand built near each venue: Skyline Whitespace, part of Creaplan Group with locations in Ghent, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Las Vegas.
- Shipping only your graphics: MEMS International, an official Octanorm partner that sources Octanorm parts locally for shows abroad and has delivered stands in more than 160 cities.
- Your first US trade show: Marsden Exhibitions, which has its own US and Canadian build teams and handles the paperwork with US venues and organisers.
- Gaming and tech shows in Europe and the USA: Symbiosis, a Recommended Stand Contractor for ICE Barcelona with teams in London and New York.
- A large stand at UK shows plus the odd European fair: Solutions2, whose 40-strong production team has built for NEFF at EuroCucina and IGT at ICE Barcelona.

How we compared these exhibition stand design and build companies
We read each company’s own website for this guide and checked every fact on 5 November 2026. Every builder here is UK-based, handles exhibition stand design and construction itself, and has a listing on Exhibition Directory. We ranked them on four things that matter when your show is abroad:
- how much of their published work is outside the UK, and whether they name the shows, cities and clients
- whether they have their own people, offices or production outside the UK, or work through partners
- whether design, production and project management stay in-house in the UK, so you have one contract and one point of contact
- the credentials you can check, such as ISO certification, ESSA accreditation, official contractor roles and published prices
Nobody paid to be included or for their position, and owning a listing on this site earns nothing in the ranking. We have not hired these firms ourselves, so this compares what each one publishes rather than testing their stands. A few UK stand builders listed on Exhibition Directory are not ranked, either because their own sites publish too little about overseas work, or because they mainly supply graphics or modular kits rather than design and build services.

The 8 best UK exhibition stand builders for international shows, ranked
1. Equinox Group
Equinox started in a small workshop in Leeds in 1983 and went international in 1996. Its team of at least 74 designers, architects, fabricators and digital creators still designs and builds in-house, and the company says 285 of its 730 projects have been outside the UK, with 25% of its projects in North America and 5% in Asia. It is ISO 14001 certified, and its own logistics and transport team moves your stand between its storage hubs and the venue, so you are not left to arrange freight yourself.
Its published work abroad is large and technical. For Digitain at ICE Barcelona 2026 it built a 960 m² stand with a fully enclosed VIP zone, private meeting rooms, a networking bar and LED gate walls. At ILA Berlin 2026 it turned sixteen container blocks into a hospitality chalet for Helsing, with meeting rooms, a boardroom, demo rooms, a kitchen and a roof terrace, and it has worked at SBC Summit Lisbon, ISE Barcelona and the Paris Air Show.
Best for: brands that need a big custom stand, chalet or pavilion abroad and want one UK firm to design, build, ship and run it. See the Equinox Group listing.

2. Nimlok
Nimlok has traded since 1970, employs 100 people at its 55,000 sq ft headquarters in Wellingborough and produces at least 450 projects a year in the UK. It opened in the USA and Canada in the 1980s, and today it has installation teams in Barcelona, Venice, Cologne and Malta, crew and logistics hubs in Germany, Italy and Spain, and facilities in Chicago, Las Vegas and Toronto. In North America its stands are installed by Sho-Link, a union labour co-operative in which Nimlok is a stakeholder, and a dedicated UK-based US and Canada expert, with 25 years at the company, coordinates US shows from here.
Most of its larger stands use its Bespoke Hire formula, a solution where the structure comes from hire stock and only the features and graphics are made for you, so you pay less upfront and have less to store. For a European show the stand is designed and produced in Wellingborough, then delivered to the venue, where its local crews build it. Nimlok is ISO 9001 registered and holds ESSA Health and Safety accreditation.
Best for: UK exhibitors with shows in both Europe and North America who want a custom-looking stand without owning and shipping the whole structure. See the Nimlok listing.

3. Focal Exhibitions
Focal works from its design and build headquarters at Hazel Grove, near Stockport, and says more than 60% of its projects each year are outside the UK, across mainland Europe, the Middle East, the Far East and North America. It delivers over 300 projects a year with a 24/7 global service, publishes a US phone number alongside its UK one, and uses trusted international partners for logistics and local support. It usually takes on stands of 25 m² and above, up to 800 m², and says it has more than 30 years of experience in the global exhibition industry.
Its case studies show long relationships abroad. Focal has represented Penguin Random House for more than 25 years at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, the Frankfurt Book Fair and The London Book Fair, and manages Fischer Connectors’ full event calendar in the UK and Europe. It built a 360 m² stand for Starkey at EUHA 2023 in Germany, and for Davanti Tyres at Autopromotec in Bologna a 150 m² stand with a raised VIP deck held up by self-supporting structures, with no venue drop wires.
Best for: brands with large stands at several international trade fairs a year who want the same UK team at every one. See the Focal Exhibitions listing.

4. Skyline Whitespace
Skyline Whitespace began in 2002 as the UK contracting partner of Skyline, the US modular system maker, and has designed stands for shows around the world from the start. Since late 2024 it has been part of Creaplan Group, which gives you one contractor with locations in London, Ghent, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Las Vegas and regional production hubs that build closer to the venue, cutting transport distances and lead times. Its Wimbledon studio, project managers and client presentation room sit together, and it holds ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
It was voted Best Supplier to Exhibitors at the Exhibition News Awards in 2023, 2024 and 2025, and won the ESG Award of the Year at the AEO Excellence Awards 2026. Its projects include stands for BMW and Kia at the Brussels Motor Show, Samsung at ISH and Riyadh Air at World Travel Market, and it is an Aluvision Connect Ambassador, building reusable modular stands that look custom and travel from show to show.
Best for: a modular stand programme across several European countries, built locally to the same standard each time. See the Skyline Whitespace listing.
5. MEMS International
MEMS International has worked as an exhibition specialist since 1987 from Chessington, Surrey, where it manufactures in its own workshop and produces all graphics in-house. It says it has delivered stands in more than 160 cities, from Las Vegas and London to Singapore and São Paulo, and its portfolio names stands for Bechtel at Gastech in Houston and Milan, Sempra at LNG 2026 in Doha, Darkvision at ONS in Stavanger, Tenaris in Baku, Citi and Macquarie at E-world in Essen, and American Express GBT at the GBTA Convention in Denver.
As an official Octanorm partner through the OSPI programme, MEMS can source Octanorm components locally almost anywhere, so for shows abroad you often ship only your graphics, which cuts freight costs. It also hires out Octanorm stands for one-off shows and stores and maintains them in Surrey between events. It puts a typical custom build at 6 to 12 weeks from concept to delivery.
Best for: energy, finance and corporate exhibitors heading to shows far from the UK, especially on a system stand. See the MEMS International listing.
6. Marsden Exhibitions
Marsden Exhibitions was established in Loughborough in 2003, with roots going back to 1996, and counts more than 3,521 stand builds at over 100 venues in 15 countries. For North America it uses its own US and Canadian manufacture and build teams, covering design, print, lighting, flooring and electrics, and it handles the paperwork with US venues and organisers so your team only has to turn up. It has added official partnerships with FutureScape USA in Santa Monica and, from 2027, Recycling Expo Middle East.
Its international work includes a 6 x 6 metre stand for The Multiplayer Group at the Game Developers Conference at the Moscone Center, Pixelmon at gamescom in Cologne and stands for Canagan’s European exhibition programme, including Interzoo in Nuremberg. It is also one of the few builders that publishes prices (see the cost section below), and its T3 modular system uses magnetic graphic panels you can reuse on stands of different sizes.
Best for: a UK or European brand doing its first US trade show, or anyone who wants to see price bands before asking for a quote. See the Marsden Exhibitions listing.

7. Symbiosis
Symbiosis has a head office on Regent Street in London, a US company in New York and workshops near Andover in Hampshire, and its London and New York teams handle design, build, logistics and delivery. It was appointed a Recommended Stand Contractor for ICE Barcelona after more than 15 years of building stands at ICE, and it has been a preferred stand supplier to Clarion Gaming for its iGB events, including iGB Affiliate Amsterdam. Its work abroad includes a stand for Cooper Turner Beck at ONS in Norway.
Many of its stands are built on beMatrix frames, and Symbiosis says it is one of only five companies in Europe with beMaster Plus status. Everything is made in its own production workshop and print studio, your stand can be stored in its two warehouses between shows, and it also does white label production for creative agencies. It is ESSA Health and Safety accredited and won Better Stands Gold certification in 2025.
Best for: gaming, fintech and tech exhibitors with shows in Barcelona, Amsterdam and the USA. See the Symbiosis listing.

8. Solutions2
Solutions2 is a family-run design and build company founded in 2001 in Sutton Coldfield, with a 40-strong production team that builds and tests each stand in its own workshop before it goes to the show. It says it has decades of experience at UK and international events, with clients across the UK and Europe.
Its published work abroad is smaller than the firms above, but it is real. NEFF, part of BSH Home Appliances, praises its work at EuroCucina, and IGT thanks the team for its stand at ICE Barcelona. Most of its portfolio is large stands at UK shows, which makes it a good choice if most of your calendar is in the UK and you need the same stand at one or two European fairs.
Best for: UK-led exhibitors who want one builder for big UK stands and an occasional show in Europe. See the Solutions2 listing.
Other UK exhibition stand design companies that work abroad
These builders also publish international work, but their sites give fewer details about it, so we have not ranked them here.
- Sovereign Exhibitions, near Coventry: ten minutes from the NEC, says it has worked in more than 25 countries and builds for shows across Europe and the Gulf.
- Icon Exhibitions, Cannock: has worked at venues as far away as San Diego and Kuala Lumpur, runs projects for UK firms exhibiting abroad and for overseas firms exhibiting in the UK, and built a custom stand for BAE Systems at the Aircraft Interiors show at Hamburg Messe.
- CXGlobal: trading since 2008, it works with partners in the USA, Asia Pacific, the UAE and Europe.
What a bespoke or modular exhibition stand costs abroad
Most of the builders in this guide quote per project and publish no prices. Marsden Exhibitions is the exception. Its UK cost guide gives these typical ranges:
- shell scheme upgrades, £500 to £3,000
- modular stands, £4,000 to £15,000, or £250 to £400 per m²
- fully bespoke stands, from £15,000, with complex builds from £900 per m²
Marsden also says floor space at UK shows usually costs £100 to £700 per m², with most shows around £300 to £350, and that you should budget about the same again for the stand. On those figures, a 36 m² modular stand at a typical show costs roughly as much for the stand as for the space.

For a show abroad, add freight, customs paperwork, travel and accommodation for your team, and the venue’s own charges for power, rigging and internet. Hired structure (Nimlok’s Bespoke Hire) or a system stand built from local parts (MEMS’s Octanorm route) usually costs less to move than a custom stand built in the UK, because less of it travels. Our guide to planning an overseas exhibition budget covers these costs in more detail.
How UK stand builders deliver custom exhibition stands abroad
UK stand builders tend to use one of three methods for a show abroad, and it is worth asking which one you are paying for:
- Build in the UK and ship it. The stand is made in the builder’s own workshop, packed, shipped and built on site by a UK crew. Equinox and Focal work this way, with their own logistics. You get the most control over quality, but freight and travel cost more the further you go.
- Use the builder’s own teams or production abroad. Nimlok, Skyline Whitespace, Marsden and Symbiosis have people, offices or production outside the UK, so parts or whole stands can be made or stored near the venue and built by local crews who know the venue’s rules.
- Build a system stand from local parts. With a modular system such as Octanorm or beMatrix, the frame can come from stock near the venue and only your graphics travel. MEMS says this is how it cuts freight costs on international Octanorm stands.
Since the UK left the EU, stands and display goods sent to an EU show need customs paperwork, and goods that come back after the show are usually moved under a temporary admission route such as an ATA Carnet, so ask your builder or freight forwarder who arranges it. Our guide to shipping exhibition equipment abroad explains the main options. In the USA, union labour rules and drayage (the show contractor’s charge for moving your freight from the loading dock to your stand) add cost and planning, which is why Nimlok and Marsden both use their own US teams.
A local builder can be the better choice for a single show far from home, a very large stand where local labour rules dominate, or a short lead time. You can compare builders in the main exhibition countries in our pages on stand builders in Germany, stand builders in the USA and stand builders in the UAE, or browse all stand builders in the directory.
Stand design and build services for overseas companies exhibiting in the UK
If your business is based abroad and exhibiting at a UK show, a UK exhibition stand builder saves you shipping a stand in and gives you a team that knows the main venues, such as Excel London, the NEC Birmingham and Olympia London. Icon Exhibitions and Marsden both say they work for overseas companies coming to the UK, and Skyline Whitespace built Riyadh Air’s stand at World Travel Market in London. If you also exhibit in Europe or the USA, the builders ranked above can then take the same design on to your other shows.

How to choose an exhibition stand contractor for a project abroad
- Ask for stands they have built at your show, or at the same venue, and who installed them.
- Check whether the build crew on site will be their own staff, a partner, or a crew hired locally.
- Ask who handles the venue’s technical approvals, rigging and electrics orders, and the organiser’s deadlines.
- Get freight, customs paperwork, travel and storage priced in the quote, not added later.
- Ask whether the stand can be built from local frames or hired structure so less has to travel.
- Agree where the stand is stored between shows and what happens to it at the end of its life.
- Check credentials you can verify, such as ISO certification, ESSA accreditation or an official contractor role at your show.
- Book early: Marsden puts the ideal lead time for a bespoke stand at 12 to 24 weeks, and MEMS puts a custom build at 6 to 12 weeks.
Questions about UK stand builders and shows abroad
Who are the best UK exhibition stand builders for international shows?
In our comparison, Equinox Group, Nimlok and Focal Exhibitions came out strongest, followed by Skyline Whitespace, MEMS International, Marsden Exhibitions, Symbiosis and Solutions2. All eight design and build stands themselves from UK bases and publish work at shows outside the UK.
How much does an exhibition stand cost?
Marsden Exhibitions publishes typical UK ranges of £500 to £3,000 for a shell scheme upgrade, £4,000 to £15,000 for a modular stand and £15,000 or more for a fully bespoke stand. For a show abroad, add freight, travel and local labour. Most builders here only quote per project.
Can a UK stand builder build my stand in Germany or the USA?
Yes. Nimlok has installation teams in Cologne and other European cities and facilities in Chicago and Las Vegas, Marsden has its own US and Canadian build teams, and Equinox, Focal and MEMS build abroad regularly from their UK bases.
What is the biggest exhibition centre in the UK?
The NEC Birmingham is the largest, with 186,000 m² of exhibition space across 18 halls by the venue’s own figures. Excel London has 87,328 m² in its North and South event halls.
Should I use a UK exhibition stand contractor or a local one abroad?
Use a UK contractor when you exhibit at several shows a year, want the same exhibition stand design everywhere, or need to see the stand before it ships. A local builder can make more sense for a single show far from home or a very large stand where local labour rules dominate.
How far ahead should I book a stand builder for a show abroad?
Earlier than for a UK show, because freight and approvals take longer. Marsden suggests 12 to 24 weeks for a bespoke stand, and MEMS puts a custom build at 6 to 12 weeks from concept to delivery.
